On combining the like terms,

= 21ab + 2b² – 4a²

Sum of ab + 2b² and 3b² – a² 

= ab + 2b² + 3b² – a² 

= ab + 5b² – a²
Now, subtracting 21ab + 2b² – 4a² from ab + 5b² – a², we get

= (ab + 5b² – a²) – (21ab + 2b² – 4a²)

= ab + 5b² – a² – 21ab – 2b² + 4a² 

On combining the like terms,

= ab – 21ab + 5b² – 2b² – a² + 4a² 

= –20ab + 3b² + 3a²
