प्रश्न
What are the adaptations seen in different types of vertebrates?
उत्तर
- Fishes - a body that is streamlined for swimming, gills for breathing underwater, and sticky scales for body protection and quick swimming.
- Amphibian - For example, frogs have poikilothermic bodies that allow them to exist both on land and in water. In their larval stage, they breathe using gills, but later on, they prefer to breathe through their skin, lungs, and bucco-pharyngeal region.
- Lizards - They breathe through their lungs, are quadriplegic, and have powerful limbs. Their tail acts as a counterweight. They have sharp projections on their tongue that allow them to grab and hold things.
- Birds - They have streamlined bodies, strong forelimbs, light and hollow bones, and strong chest muscles, all of which allow them to fly easily. Their tails assist them in managing their direction.
- Camel - Camel can drink and store a lot of water in their bodies. They have long legs for walking in the hot desert. They do not sweat and produce minimal amounts of urine.
