Write a short note on Bhopal Gas Tragedy.

- In 1984 there was accidental release of 40 tonnes of methyl isocyanate (MIC) from the factory of Union Carbide India limited located in the heart of Bhopal city (Madhya Pradesh).
- This was an industrial disaster. It caused more than 15000 deaths and injured more than 6 lakh persons. The majority of deaths and serious injuries were related to pulmonary edema. But the gas also resulted in a variety of other ailments.
