A 0.5µF capacitor is discharged through a 10 millihenry inductor. Find the frequency of discharge.

Given:

C = 0.5 µF = 0.5 × 10-6 F
L = 10 mH = 10 × 10-3 H = 10-2 H

To find: Frequency (f)

Formula: f = `1/(2pisqrt"LC")`

Calculation:

From formula,

f = `1/(2 xx 3.142 xx sqrt(0.5 xx 10^-6 xx 10^-2))`

= 2.25 × 103 Hz

The frequency of discharge is 2.25 × 103 Hz.
