Question
A body of mass m is taken from a height h to 2h. What is the increase in its potential energy?
Solution
Initial potential energy = mgh
Final potential energy = mg × 2h = 2mgh
Increase in potential energy = Final potential energy – Initial potential energy
= 2mgh – mgh = mgh.
