Question
A circle of radius 70 cm is divided into 5 equal sectors. Find the area of each of the sectors
Solution
Radius of the sector r = 70 cm
Number of equal sectors = 5
∴ Central angle of each sector = `(360^circ)/"n"`
θ° = 360°
θ° = 72°
Area of the sector = `theta^circ/(360^circ) xx pi"r"^2 "sq. units"`
= `(72^circ)/(360^circ) xx pi xx 70 xx 70 "cm"^2`
Hint:
`(72 xx pi xx 70 xx 70)/360`
= 14 × 70 × πcm2
= 980 πcm2
