In the North Indian plains, a dense network of railways has developed because railway network is relatively less dense in the hilly states in the north and north-east, in the central parts of India, and in the desert area of Rajasthan, so in comparison, it is focused in the North Indian plains where there is a lot of levelled land, industrialization, dense urbanisation, available water resources, and great agricultural resources as a result of fertile soil.
