Question

A hollow metal sphere of radius 10 cm is charged such that the potential on its surface is 5 V. What is the potential at the centre of the sphere?

Solution

We know

 `E =-(dv)/(dr)`and for hollow shell electric field at center = 0

`=> -(dv)/(dr) =0=> dv =0`

Hence V= 5V
