Question
A shepherd has 200 sheep with him. Find the number of sheep with him after 2 years if the increase in number of sheep is 10% every year.
Sum
Solution
P = Number of sheep initially = 200
R = Rate of increase in sheep = 10% p.a.
N = 2 years
A = number of sheep after 2 years.
A = `"P"(1 + "R"/100)^"N"`
= `200(1 + 10/100)^2`
= `200((100 + 10)/100)^2`
= `200 xx (110/100)^2`
= `200 xx 110/100 xx 110/100`
= `(220 xx 110)/100`
= `24200/100`
= 242 sheeps
