Question
A spring breaks under tension of 10 kg wt.If the string is used to revolve a body of mass 1.2 kg in a horizontal circle. of radius 50 cm, what is the maximum speed with which a body can be revolved?
Numerical
Solution
Given: Tension = 10 kg wt = 10 × 9.8 N
∴ fcp = 98 N, m = 1.2 m
r = 50 cm = 50 x 10-2 m,
To find: vmax =?
We have,
`f_(cp) = (mv_max^2)/r`
∴ `v_max^2 = (r. f_cp)/m`
`= (50 xx 10^-2 xx 98)/1.2`
∴ `v_max^2 = 4083.3 xx 10^-2`
`v_max = 6.389 m//s`
