Question

Anmol has a chart paper of measure 90 cm × 40 cm, whereas Abhishek has one which measures 50 cm × 70 cm. Which will cover more area on the table and by how much?

Sum

Solution

Given, Anmol’s chart paper size = 90 cm × 40 cm

Here, Let 90 cm = length and 40 cm = breadth

∴ Area of rectangle = Length × Breadth = 90 × 40 = 3600 sq cm

Similarly, Abhishek’s chart paper size = 50 cm × 70 cm

Here, Let 50 cm = length and 70 cm = breadth

∴ Area of rectangle = Length x Breadth = 50 × 70 = 3500 sq cm

Hence, Anmol’s chart paper will cover more area as the table.

More area = 3600 – 3500 = 100 sq cm
