- The Punjab Plains in the West: They are formed by the alluvial deposits of the tributaries of the rivers Indus — The Satluj, the Beas, the Ravi, the Chenab, and the Jhelum. It is in Punjab and Haryana.
- The Brahmaputra Valley in the East: It is formed by the Brahmaputra River. It lies in Assam.
