Questions
Answer the following question in your own words.
Sketch, label and describe the Spirogyra.
Sketch and label the figure of the following plant and explain them in brief.
Spirogyra
Solution
The monocotyledon flora subgenus contains Thallophyta flora, which includes Spirogyra green algae. This plant is found in fresh water and can survive only in water. Its body shape is long like a thread. Being chlorophyll, it has the ability to photosynthesize, so it can nourish itself. This multicellular fibrous body has spiral replication, and there are knots of pyrenoids (pigmentous substances) in between. It reproduces asexually, and the growth of Spirogyra occurs through the process of fragmentation.
