Question

Cards marked with numbers 13, 14, 15, ...., 60 are placed in a box and mixed thoroughly.One card is drawn at random from the box. Find the probability that number on the card drawn is divisible by 5

Solution

Total no. of possible outcomes = 48 {13, 14, 15, …., 60}

E ⟶ event of getting no divisible by 5

No. of favourable outcomes = 10{15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50 55, 60}

Probability, P(E) =`"No.of favorable outcomes"/."Total no.of possible outcomes"`

P(E) =10/48 =5/24
