Question
Check whether the following sequence is in A.P.
1, –1, 1, –1, 1, –1, …
Solution
1, –1, 1, –1, 1, –1, …
t2 – t1 = –1 – 1 = – 2
t3 – t2 = 1 – (–1) = 1 + 1 = 2
t4 – t3 = –1 – (1) = – 1 – 1 = – 2
t5 – t4 = 1 – (–1) = 1 + 1 = 2
Common difference are not equal
∴ The sequence is not an A.P.
