Reasons for the sinking of Titanic.
Activity
Solution
- Collision with an iceberg: A huge iceberg was in the way of the ship, and even though the crew tried to stay clear of it, the ship hit it and suffered major damage.
- Weak hull structure: The Titanic's hull wasn't strong enough to handle the impact, so water flooded the lower decks.
- Limited lifeboats: The ship had few lifeboats, which made getting out of the water harder and caused more deaths.
- Delayed rescue response: Rescuers were slow to arrive because the nearby ship California had its radio turned off and didn't hear Titanic's emergency signals.
- Overconfidence in the ship's design: The makers of the Titanic thought it would "unsink," which made them not take enough safety measures.
