1. The afferent neuron conducts nerve impulses towards the brain or the spinal cord. The efferent neuron conducts nerve impulses from the brain or spinal cord to the effector organs, such as muscles or glands.
2. They are sensory in nature. They are motor in nature.
3. These are called afferent nerves. These are called efferent nerves.
4. They are unipolar. These are multipolar.
5. These transmit impulses from the sensory organ to the central nervous system. These carry reactions from the central nervous system to the efferent system.
