Question
Divide x + 2x2 + 3x4 − x5 by 2x.
Solution
\[\frac{x + 2 x^2 + 3 x^4 - x^5}{2x}\]
\[ = \frac{x}{2x} + \frac{2 x^2}{2x} + \frac{3 x^4}{2x} - \frac{x^5}{2x}\]
\[ = \frac{1}{2} + x + \frac{3}{2} x^3 - \frac{1}{2} x^4 \]
