Question

Dorji has a few bottles of soft drink in his restaurant. But, unfortunately, these are not labelled. He has to serve the drinks on the demand of customers. One customer wants acidic drink, another wants basic and third one wants neutral drink. How will Dorji decide which drink is to be served to whom?

Answer in Brief

Solution

  1. Dorji should test the drink in the three bottles by pouring a small quantity of the drink on blue and red litmus papers one by one.
  2. The bottle whose drink turns the blue litmus paper red will be acidic in nature.
  3. The drink from which the bottle turns the red litmus paper blue will be alkaline in nature.
  4. The drink in the bottle that does not change the colour of the litmus paper will be neutral in nature. In this way, Dorji can test acidic, basic, and neutral drinks in bottles and give them to customers.
