Solution

The following equations are given:

x – 4y + 10 = 0  .....(i)

And x + 4y – 10 = 0  ......(ii)

For equation (i): x – 4y + 10 = 0

x 0 –10
y = `(x + 10)/4` 2.5 0
(x, y) (0, 2.5) (–10, 0)

For equation (ii): x + 4y – 10 = 0

x 0 10
y = `(10 - x)/4` 2.5 0
(x, y) (0, 2.5) (10, 0)

ABC is the triangle produced by these two lines and the X-axis.

Hence, the coordinates of the triangle formed are (–10, 0), (0, 2.5) and (10, 0).
