Ethanol is oxidised to acetic acid.

 \[\ce{C2H5OH + 2[O] ->[Acidified][K2Cr2O7] \underset{Acetic acid}{CH3COOH} + H2O}\]

The oxidising agent is Potassium dichromate, or Ethanoic acid.
