Selection Tests
Explain the following step of the selection process:
Employment Interview
Solution
The following are the steps in the selection process:
- Preliminary Interview: The candidate's preliminary interview is the first step in the selection process. A junior-level officer or functional expert usually conducts the preliminary interview to assess whether the candidate should proceed to the next stages of the selection process.
- Blank Application: Candidates who pass the preliminary interview are usually asked to fill out a specifically designed application blank (form). The application blank keeps track of the candidate's qualifications, experience, and other information. It may be used as good test equipment to determine the candidate's expression, handwriting, and other abilities.
- Selection Tests: A candidate may be required to take employment exams to demonstrate his domain knowledge. These tests come in a variety of formats, depending on the job's specific requirements. The aptitude, IQ, personality, and other characteristics of the applicants for the open positions are examined using selection exams.
- Employment Interview: An interview is a structured, in-depth discussion meant to evaluate an applicant's fit for the position. In an interview, the interviewee looks for information about the position and the business, and the interviewer aims to learn as much as possible about the candidate.
