Question

Explain how the following factor affect India’s climate :

Southern Oscillation

Short Note

Solution

The Southern Oscillation is a pattern of meteorological changes that are often observed between the Indian and Pacific oceans. Whenever the surface level pressure is high over the Pacific Ocean and low over the Indian Ocean, the southwest monsoons in India tend to be stronger. If the surface level pressure is high over the Indian Ocean and high over the Pacific Ocean, the southwest monsoon is likely to be weaker.
