Question
Explain terrorism as a new source of threat to the security with the help of any two examples.
Solution
The emergence of terrorism is one of the major sources of dangers to the internal security of countries all over the world in the twenty-first century. Terrorism has become a global problem, and all nations are working hard to combat it.
- Terrorist activity increased beginning in the 1990s, when terrorist organizations like as Al-Qaeda, Taliban, and Lashkar were active, particularly in the Indian subcontinent. Terrorism was not regarded as a global problem in the 1990s. Terrorism was regarded seriously on a global scale after the World Trade Center attack on September 11, 2001. Following this incident, the United States declared a global war on terrorism and invaded Afghanistan in order to eliminate Al-Qaeda, which was suspected of being implicated in the 9/11 attack.
- Terrorist operations have also had a huge impact on India. An attack on the Indian Parliament occurred in 2001, and one of the most vicious attacks occurred on November 26, 2008, in Mumbai. The roots of both operations were traced back to Pakistan, where the attack's commanders were based. Terrorism must be dealt with effectively at the global level, and all stakeholders must be involved.
