Explain the following:
H3PO3 is not a tribasic acid.
Solution
H3PO3 is not a tribasic acid because in oxyacids of phosphorus, hydrogen atoms which are attached to oxygen atoms are replaceable. Hydrogen atoms directly bonded to phosphorus atoms are not replaceable.
