S.No | Item | Marked Price | Sales Tax |
i | Shoes | Rs. 2,740.00 | Rs 137.00 |
ii | music system | Rs. 16,400.00 | Rs 2,050.00 |

iv | Digital diary | Rs. 3,500.00 | Rs 367.50 |
v | VCD | Rs. 27,916.00 | Rs 4,047.82 |
Solution
Rate of sales tax = `(100 xx "salestax")/"marked price"`
(i) Sales tax = Rs 137
Marked Price = Rs 2,740
r = `(100 xx 137)/(2,740)=5%`
Rate of sales tax = 5%
(ii) Sales tax = Rs 2,050
Marked Price = Rs 16,400
r = `(100 xx 2,050)/(16,400)=12.5%`
Rate of sales tax = 12.5%
(iii) Sales tax = Rs 1,332
Marked Price = Rs 8,325
r = `(100 xx 1,332)/(8325)=16%`
Rate of sales tax = 16%
(iv) Sales tax = Rs 367. 50
Marked Price = Rs 3,500
r = `(100 xx 367.50)/(3,500)=(100 xx 36750)/(3,500 xx 100)=10.5%`
Rate of sales tax = 10.5%
(v) Sales tax= Rs 4,047.82
Marked Price = Rs 27,916
r = `(100 xx 4,047.82)/(27,916)=(100 xx 4,04,782)/(27,916 xx 100)=14.5%`
Rate of sales tax = 14.5%
