Question
Find the median of 25, 16, 15, 10, 8, 30
Solution
Arranging is ascending order: 8, 10, 15, 16, 25, 30
Here n = 6, even
∴ Median = `1/2{("n"/2)^"th" "term" + ("n"/2 + 1)^"th" "term"}`
= `1/2{(6/2)^"th" "term" + (6/2 + 1)^"th" "term"}`
= `1/2{3^"rd" "term" + 4^"th" "term"}`
= `1/2{15 + 16}`
= `1/2(31)`
= 15.5
∴ Median = 15.5
