Question

Find the values of the following polynomials at a = –2 and b = 3:

a2 + b2 – ab – b2 – a2

Sum

Solution

Given, a = –2 and b = 3

So, putting a = –2 and b = 3 in the given expressions, we get

a2 + b2 – ab – b2 – a2 = (–2)2 + (3)2 –(–2)(3) – (3)2 –(–2)2

= 4 + 9 + 6 – 9 – 4

= 6
