Find the values of the following polynomials at a = –2 and b = 3:
a2 + b2 – ab – b2 – a2
Solution
Given, a = –2 and b = 3
So, putting a = –2 and b = 3 in the given expressions, we get
a2 + b2 – ab – b2 – a2 = (–2)2 + (3)2 –(–2)(3) – (3)2 –(–2)2
= 4 + 9 + 6 – 9 – 4
= 6
