Question

For the equation given below, find the slope and the y-intercept:
3y = 7

Sum

Solution

Equation of any straight line in the form y = mx + c, where slope = m(co-efficient of x) and y-intercept = c(constant term)
3y = 7

3y = 7

3y = 0 · x + 7

y = `(0)/(7) x + (7)/(3)`

y = 0 · x + `(7)/(3)`

Therefore,

slope = co-efficient of x = 0

y-intercept = constant term = `(7)/(3)`.
