For the following set of data, find the median:
10, 75, 3, 81, 17, 27, 4, 48, 12, 47, 9 and 15.

Arrange the given terms in ascending order: 

3,4,9,10,12,15,17,27,47,48,75,81 

Number of terms=12 

∴  Median=`[((n/2)^("th")+((n+1)/2)^(th))/2]` term  

=`[((12/2)^("th")+((12+1)/2)^("th"))/2]` term 

= `(6^("th")+7^("th"))/2` term

=`(15+17)/2=32/2=16` 

∴ Median = 16
