Four capacitors, C1, C2, C3 andC4 are connected as shown in Figure 3 below. Calculate equivalent capacitance of the circuit between points X . and Y.

Solution

C2 and C3 are in series and the resultant is in parallel with C4

1C'=1C2+1C2=130+120

C' = 30×2030+20=60050=12μF

C" = C+  C4=12+28=40μF

CT=C+C1C+C1=40×1040+10= 8μF
