Question
Give an example and verify the following statement.
The collection of all non-zero rational numbers is closed under division
Solution
let a = `5/6` and b = `(-4)/3` be two non-zero rational numbers.
a ÷ b = `5/6 ÷ (-4)/3`
= `5/6 xx 3/(-4)`
= `5/(-8)` is in Q
∴ Collection of non-zero rational numbers are closed under division.
