People living in the Himalayas are more vulnerable to earthquakes because -

1. Himalayan mountain ranges are formed as a result of the collision of the Inda-Australian plate and the Eurasian plate.
2. According to plate tectonic theory, the Inda-Australian plate (on which India lies) is moving towards the north and is subducting under the Eurasian plate.
3. This movement obviously causes friction between two plates.
4. Thus, these regions are more prone to earthquakes.
