Question

Give the main difference between electrolytic conductivity and molar conductivity with respect to concentration.

Distinguish Between

Solution

  Electrolytic conductivity Molar conductivity
Definition Conductivity is the measure of an electrolyte’s ability to conduct electricity through it. Molar conductivity is the conductivity of an electrolytic solution measured per unit molar concentration of the solution.
Molar Concentration Molar concentration of the electrolytic solution not considered when determining the conductivity. The concentration of electrolytic solution should be considered when determining the molar conductivity.
Uses Mainly used to determine the presence or absence of conductive ions in solution. Useful in giving the dissociation constant of a weak electrolyte as a function of concentration in Ostwald's law of dilution.
