Question

If: `[(2, 1, 3)] [(-1, 0, -1),(-1, 1, 0),(0, 1, 1)] [(1),(0),(-1)]` = A, find A

Sum

Solution

We have, `[(2, 1, 3)]_(1 xx 3) [(-1, 0, -1),(-1, 1, 0),(0, 1, 1)]_(3 xx 3) [(1),(0),(-1)]_(3 xx 1)` = A

∴ `[(2, 1, 3)]_(1 xx 3) [(-1 + 0 + 1),(-1 + 0 + 0),(0 + 0 - 1)]_(3 xx 1)` = A

⇒ `[(2, 1, 3)]_(1 xx 3) [(0),(-1),(-1)]_(3 xx 1)`` = A

⇒ `[0 -1 -3]` = A

⇒ A = [– 4]
