Question
If A: B = `(1)/(4) : (1)/(5)` and B : C = `(1)/(7) : (1)/(6)`, find A : B : C.
Solution
A: B = `(1)/(4) : (1)/(5)`
B : C = `(1)/(7) : (1)/(6)`
LCM of B's terms 4 and 6 = 12
Making terms of B's; as 12
`"A"/"B" = (5 xx 3)/(4 xx 3) = (15)/(12)` = 15 : 12
`"B"/"C" = (6 xx 2)/(7 xx 2) = (12)/(14)` = 12 : 14
∴ A : B : C = 15 : 12 : 14.
