If P = perimeter of a rectangle, l = its length and b = its breadth; find l, if P = 96 m and b = 28 m.
Solution
Perimeter of a rectangle = 96 m
Breadth (b) = 28 m
Let length = l
P = 2(l + b)
l = `("P" - 2"b")/2`
= `(96 - 2 xx 28)/2`
= `(96 - 56)/2`
= `40/2`
= 20 m
∴ l = 20 m
