We know that,

⇒ 5 = `(8 + 4 + x + 6 + 2 + 7)/6` ......[∵ Mean = 5, given]
⇒ 30 = 27 + x
⇒ 30 – 27 = x
⇒ 3 = x
∴ x = 3
