Question

In a town, an ice cream parlour has displayed an ice cream sculpture of height 360 cm. The parlour claims that these ice creams and the sculpture are in the scale 1 : 30. What is the height of the ice creams served?

Sum

Solution

Given, Height of ice-cream sculpture = 360 cm

Scale used for ice-cream and sculpture = 1 : 30

The height of the ice-cream served = Scale × Actual size  ...`[∵ "Scale" = "Size drawn"/"Actual size"]`

= `(1 xx 360)/30`

= 12 cm

Hence, the height of that ice-cream served is 12 cm.
