In the given figure, AP ⊥ AB and BQ ⊥ AB. If OA = 15 cm, BO = 12 cm and AP = 10 cm, then find the length of BQ.

Sum

Solution

In ΔAOP and ΔBOQ

∠A = ∠B = 90°

∠AOP = ∠BOQ     ...[Alternate angle]

AA Similarity

`(AO)/(OB) = (AP)/(BQ)`

`15/12 = 10/(BQ) ⇒ 3/12 = 2/(BQ)`

BQ = 8 cm
