  1. Corbett National Park: The Corbett National Park is India's first national park that was set up in 1936. It is located in Nainital and Pauri Garhwal in the state of Uttaranchal. It includes the Sonanadi Wildlife Sanctuary as a part of its reserved forest area. The Corbett National Park was set up with the help and recommendation of great hunter and conservationist Jim Corbett.
  2. Kanha National Park: Situated 230 km. from Nagpur, the Kanha National Park has earned the distinction of Asia's best national park. The Kanha National Park is home to the tiger, leopard, hyena, wild buffalo and more than 200 of the avian species. The only habitat of the rare hardground barasingha, Kanha, has a thick vegetation of sal and bamboo forests.
  3. Kaziranga National Park: Kaziranga National Park is situated in Assam on the southern bank of the mighty Brahmaputra River. It was formed as a reserve forest in 1926, primarily to safeguard the future of the diminishing Rhino population. It is now the natural habitat of one of the most endangered species in the world, the one horned rhino. It was declared a wildlife sanctuary in 1940 and contains about 15 species of India's threatened mammal species.
  4. Bandhavgarh National Park: Bandhavgarh National Park is the White Tiger territory. Though Bandhavgarh is home to fabulous flora and fauna, it is renowned for its terrific tigers. The amalgamation of the deciduous, sal trees, grasslands, meadows, and the stretches of bamboo make Bandhavgarh National Park home for the 22 species of mammals and another 250 odd species of birds.
  5. Bandipur National Park: Bandipur National Park is in Karnataka. The flora ranges from dry and tropical deciduous and evergreen forests to open grassy woodlands. Valuable hardwoods, including rosewood and teak, are found here.
  6. Periyar National Park: The Periyar National Park and Tiger Reserve is one of the most captivating wildlife parks in the world. It is situated in Kerala. It is one of the 18 reserves under Project Tiger. Periyar is a national park and a protected tiger reserve. The vegetation here is of moist deciduous type.
  7. Dudhwa National Park: This national park in North India comprises sal forests, marshes, and grasslands, which harbour a wide variety of wildlife. The park is famous for the reintroduced one-horned rhino and swamp deer.
  8. Pench National Park: It is located on the southern boundary of Madhya Pradesh. It is named after the Pench River.
  9. The Sunderban National Park: It is the home of the Royal Bengal Tiger and the largest mangrove forest in the world. It is the home of more than 400 tigers. Chital, deer, rhesus monkey, etc. are also found here.
