Question

Mention any two provisions of the Indian Independence Act, 1947.

Answer in Brief

Solution

India would be partitioned into two independent dominions, India and Pakistan, starting from August 15, 1947. Both dominions would have legislative control over their territories. Pakistan would include Sindh, British Baluchistan, North West Frontier Province, West Punjab, and East Bengal. India would include the rest of the territories of British India. The exact boundaries would be decided by a Boundary Commission.

Each dominion would have a Governor-General appointed by the British King based on the advice of the Cabinet of the respective dominion. This arrangement would last until the Constitutions were framed.
