- Longer boiling has a ·tendency to make white fabrics yellowed.
- If clothes are very dirty or yellowed, kerosene or turpentine may be added in the proportion of 1 to 6 teaspoon in a boiler full of water. The clothes must be thoroughly rinsed after this in order to remove the odour of kerosene or turpentine oil.
