i) No single oil serves as the most ideal lubricant for many of the modern machineries . Therefore specific additives can be incorporated into petroleum oils to improve their characteristics .
(ii) Blending improves the properties of lubricants such as good oiliness ,lower pour point ,increase in resistance power for oxidation and corrosion ,etc .
