Question

One angle is equal to three times its supplement. The measure of the angle is

Options

  • 130°

  • 135°

  • 90°

  • 120°

MCQ

Solution

Let the supplement of the angle be x°

Therefore, according to the given statement, the required angle measures 3x°

Since the angles are supplementary, therefore their sum must be equal to 180°

Or we can say that

`x + 3x = 180`

        `4x = 180`

          `x =180/ 4`

         ` x =45`

Thus, the supplement of  45°angle measures

3x = 3(45°)

 = 135°
