Question

Prove that (5 : 6) > (3 : 4).

Sum

Solution

We can write:

\[(5: 6) = \frac{5}{6} \text{and} (3: 4) = \frac{3}{4}\]

By making their denominators same: (Taking the L.C.M. of 6 and 4, which is 24.)
Consider, 5 : 6

`(5 × 4)/(6 × 4) = 20/24`

And, `(3 × 6)/(4 × 6)= 18/24`

As 20 > 18

Clearly, (5:6) > (3:4)
