Question
Reduce the following rational numbers in its lowest form:
`(-60)/72`
Solution
`(-60)/72` can be written as
= `(-60 ÷ 12)/(72 ÷ 12)` ......[Dividing numerator and denominator by HCF of 60 and 72 i.e. 12]
= `(-60 xx 1/12)/(72 xx 1/12)` .....`[∵ "Reciprocal of" 12 = 1/12]`
= `(-5)/6`, which is the lowest form.
