Reeta evaluated –4 + d for d = –6 and gave an answer of 2. What might Reeta have done wrong?

Solution

–4 + d, d = –6

∴ –4 + (–6) = –10

But –4 – (–6) = –4 + 6 = 2

Hence, Reeta have done subtraction in place of addition.
