The table given below shows the elevations relative to sea level of four locations. Taking sea level as zero, answer the following questions:
Location | Elevation (in m) |
A | –180 |
B | 1600 |
C | –55 |
D | 3200 |
- Which location is closest to sea level?
- Which location is farthest from sea level?
- Arrange the locations from the least to the greatest elevation.
Solution
- C is closest to sea level.
- D is farthest from sea level.
- Since, –180 < –55 < 1600 < 3200.
∴ The locations from the least to the greatest elevation is A < C < B < D.
