A fair is tossed twice. What are the odds in favour of getting 4, 5 or 6 on the first toss and 1, 2, 3 or 4 on the second die?
Options
1 : 3
3 : 1
1 : 2
2 : 1
Solution
1 : 2
Explanation;
A fair dice is tossed twice.
∴ n(S) = 36
A: Getting 4, 5, or 6 on the first toss and Getting 1, 2, 3, or 4 on the second toss.
∴ A = {(4, 1), (4, 2), (4, 3), (4, 4), (5, 1), (5, 2), (5, 3), (5, 4), (6, 1), (6, 2), (6, 3), (6, 4)}
∴ P(A) = `("n"("A"))/("n"("S")) = 12/36 = 1/3`
∴ Required answer = P(A):P(A')
= 1 : 2
